Dr. Jeffrey Kargel, a Senior Associate Research Scientist and Adjunct Professor at the University of Arizona in the Department of Hydrology & Water Resourses, will discuss where melting glaciers and burning Arizona forests meet?  They meet in having impacts on you.  Climate change is already affecting you in food prices, home insurance rates, taxes and deficits, and odds of facing natural disasters; much more is on the way.  Glaciers are melting under the stress of a global climate that is changing faster than at any time since the dawn of civilization, and everything else affected by climate also is changing.  It's not entirely doom and gloom.  Much of Earth's life is resilient and humans are adaptable, so if there is a way to prosper off change, somebody will find it.  Dr. Kargel will show some of the evidence of climate change in our vicinity and amongst the world's glaciers, help explain what is happening, and ponder our collective future.

Free with paid or member admission.
