Fly-A-Drone Day

Fly your own drone indoors at Pima Air and Space Museum! You’ll learn the basics of drone flight and an obstacle course will test your drone piloting skills. A visit to the museum’s Aerospace Gallery is included as part of this activity. General admission to the museum is not included in the price of the activity and admission is not required to participate in the activity.

  • 10:00am-12:00pm – Beginner
    • Build your own drone! Each family will receive one drone kit that they will be able to build while experimenting with different drone shapes. You’ll learn the basics of drone flight and train on an indoor drone obstacle course!
    • Recommended for ages 6-10 or for anyone who has never flown a drone before!
  • 1:00pm-3:00pm – Intermediate
    • Connect your drone to your smart phone to fly and take pictures from your phone! A smart phone is recommended, but not required. The drone has a remote that participants can also fly with, they just won’t be able to take and view pictures during the class.
    • Recommended for ages 11 and up or those with some drone experience.

Additional Information

  • Each booking includes 1 drone. Families can purchase additional drone kits for $70 each. Each family unit can purchase a maximum of 4 additional drone kits (for a total of 5 drones).
  • Due to limited space, a maximum of 5 children per family unit are allowed per booking.
  • The class will be held in the administrative building located on the North side of the parking lot.
  • One adult per family unit is required to be present with the child(ren) during the class. For safety, children must be at least 6 years old to participate in this activity.
  • Pima Air and Space Museum will not replace drones or drone parts if damage to the drone occurs during or after the class.
  • Participants are responsible for flying their drones in a safe manner.
