A picture of the Cessna Model 172M Skyhawk

Designed as a tricycle gear version of the Cessna 170 in 1955 the four-seat Cessna 172 is one of the most popular aircraft in history.  It is used extensively both from personal transportation and as a trainer for new pilots.  As of 2018 more than 60,000 of them have been built, making the 172 the most produced aircraft in history.  The “M” model of the Skyhawk was built from 1973 to 1976 with a total production of 7,306 aircraft.  This version introduced a modified wing to improve low speed handling, a larger baggage compartment and improved avionics.
