Do you  enjoy meeting and interacting with people from around the world? Do you have a fascination for flight and aviation that you want to share? If so, Volunteering for Pima Air and Space Museum might be right for you!  

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Pima Air and Space Museum. Currently we are not accepting applications for volunteers. Please check back periodically for up to date information on Pima Air and Space Museum's volunteer needs. 

Volunteer Areas

Below are brief descriptions of the teams and other activities that volunteers fulfill at the Pima Air & Space Museum. Team tasks are of varying degrees of difficulty. Training materials and hands-on training are provided for all areas and openings are based the current needs of the Museum. 


Education Docents 

Help inspire the next generation of Aviators and Engineers by sharing the wonder of aviation with school and other youth groups!  Training is provided. Interest in enriching children’s education required!

Hangar and Space Gallery Docents

Engage with Pima Air and Space Museums visitors about our extensive collection of aircraft and aerospace memorabilia.  Answer visitor questions about the museum facilities and exhibits while providing excellent customer service to all visitors.  

Tram Tour Docents

Immerse our guest in a 45-minute tour of the outdoor-displayed aircraft on the museum’s grounds. Tram drivers are required to drive and narrate the tour. Extensive memorization of the tram script and factual accuracy is required. 

Contracted/Special Events (Banquets, Weddings, Private Parties, Etc.)

Help make someones event memorable by providing engaging interactions with guest by providing information about the museum facilities, event program and the Museum's aircraft collection and exhibits. Most these events take place in the evening and on weekends. 

Restoration

Assist staff with the assembly/disassembly, repair, repainting, moving, and maintenance of the museum’ aircraft collection. Job requires occasionally strenuous work both indoors and outdoors all year round. Some functions may require the use of personal protective equipment such as dust masks, respirators, and protective clothing which will be provided when needed. Skills related to metal working, riveting, aircraft fabric repair, surface paint preparation, and spray painting are highly desirable. This position is only available Monday through Friday.
