The Agusta A109 is an Italian eight passenger, twin engine, light civil helicopter first flown in 1971. It is the first all-Italian designed helicopter to be mass produced. First deliveries of the helicopter came in 1976 and it has been widely used by both military and civil users around the world. The helicopter is highly regarded for its speed, agility and the ease with which it is flown. Several versions of the aircraft have been built since the 1970s including specialized versions for aeromedical operations and armed military variants.
The A109C is essentially identical to the original version of the helicopter but features an upgraded engine. The Max variant of the A109C is a specialized aeromedical transport with a wider cabin and side doors that are hinged at the top and bottom rather than to one side.
